It’s July. And do you know what I’m most excited about?

Retrogrades.

I know!!

The infamous thing where a planet *seems* to be moving backwards (with the Earth catching up and all) and all the energetics of the month get TOpsy tuRVY.

But me for, personally, I can’t fricken wait for it.

Why?

Slowness.

The astrology of April-May-June brought a near-constant forward motion that challenged the stamina of even the fastest video game characters and cartoon racers. On top the general speed of the planet, the incoming light via solar flares (this is good, my friends, we need this light), and the general feeling of motion that comes with the appearance of sun in the Northern Hemisphere (although where I live it’s been a steady 14 degrees since May), things have been moving fast. and hot.

A couple of weeks ago (I didn’t write about it, so you didn’t miss anything), we also had a sort of cosmic shift in the energetics involving the masculine. This is not the first time it’s happened and it will continue to happen throughout our lifetime as we wobble towards balance of a much-deficient yin energy and a juiced-up, over-powered, hyper-masculine yang. This, in general, is about balance. What that means, however, is that there are occasionally ripples of energy (that move a lot like solar flares, surprisingly), that do their part to disrupt the current status quo and affect the energetics of the masculine.

How does this embody? Through little things like setbacks, injuries, losses and mishaps. An over-extended masculine that has been pushing too hard will be encouraged (or forced) to slow down and embrace the yin through things that are very 3D. The back injury I mentioned in the previous post, for example, was an embodiment of such occurrence. (I’ve spent most of my life heavily leaning into and over-embodying the masculine, which means that I tend to experience the shifts on both sides of the polarities equally strongly). I simply pushed too hard and the universe gave me a big ol’ “slow down” card. This manifested as — a near accident driving home from an extra market I *didn’t* need to do (and didn’t sell much at anyway), which resulted in me sleeping in my tiny, 13 year-old compact car on the side of the highway and royally screwing up my sacrum all scsrunched up in the front seat. Oops.

Sometimes, it’s an unfair price to pay because you inhabit the masculine essence and core that is trying to balance itself out at large. My friend, for example — who is ‘on the path,’ ‘doing the work,’ and is very safe to be around as a woman, lost his brother last month. And his kitty (who was also male). The ways in which the universe moves in order to balance and re-harmonize is something that I don’t yet (and don’t know if I ever will) understand. I do feel it, however, and try to put it into words as quickly as I can while the energetic imprint still feels relevant.

ONTO JULY:

As the nonstop-straightforward energy of April-May-June has left us all a little exhausted, I tuned into my guides for July (well, truthfully, they tuned into me), and ended up with five themes for this month that may help you move through the energies a little more smoothly.

KERFUFFLE ZONE

There’s been a lot of talk on the internet about the energy of July being ‘intense,’ ‘heated,’ and ‘full-on.’ But personally, when I leaned into the energetics of July 2025, what came forward was more of an image of a river that was navigating around rocks, sticks, and other objects that had gotten wedged in there during a storm. The water is still running swiftly (it will be high summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere), but the energetics were more of a …. kerfuffle zone. Think of it as the grocery store dance — you meet someone in the aisle: you go right, they go right. You go left, they go left. You each do a little dance to try and get out of each other’s way, and… you eventually figure it out. As long as you’re not trying to do anything too perfectly this month and you’re sticking with an “I showed up, so I get a badge” mentality, you’ll be doing just fine.

#1: Use Nature to Reconnect

This may fall on deaf ears for many of you who already have a deep relationship with nature — but the flags and alarm bells are going up in July to connect more and more often. Little changes — doing your dog walks without your phone, not listening to your podcast on your morning run, or really tuning into nature when you’re picnicking at the park instead of just existing in the park are all things you can do to connect more deeply and keep your body in harmony with the changing cycles of the planet. The Earth herself has codes to offer — and as the energetic landscape of the planet shifts and changes, you’re going to want to be tuned in. (And it’ll make it easier, I promise!) For those ofyou who are in cities, or who don’t already have an active practice of being with nature (you can live near nature and still spend a lot of time in your house), this month it is absolutely vital that you get connected with mother earth. Things in the humanity realm might seem a little inexplicable, but the earth… she knows. It’s time to connect in with her energetics so you can feel that sense of stability, connection and union.

#2: The Body is Number One

This month, your body is the ultimate key. Especially for those deeply sensitive to energetics and who tend to experience intensity mostly as a departure from the body and an escape into the mind — getting fully into the body (or practicing reconnecting to the body) is going to be, hands-down, the best way to navigate this month. For some of you, that may need some slowing down and reconnecting to the body in ways you’ve been reglecting (taking time to stretch, meditate, or even just journal out how you’re feeling, allowing the mind to release what it’s been holding so you can inhabit the body more fully), and for some of you, it’s going to look a lot like movement.

Like expression.

Like dance.

Like allowing yourself to really be in your body in ways that maybe you haven’t felt in a while — or ways that you haven’t felt connected to. If you find yourself ruminating and unable to detach from the mental circus, ask yourself: What if my body held all the answers my mind is seeking? And then ask your body what it wants. Move from there. It doesn’t need to make sense, and it doesn’t even need to be a “formal” practice. Swaying can do a lot for the body. Humming. Bouncing. This month, led your body lead.
(If you’re stuck on ideas, a walk is always a great start).

#3 Use Films or Music to Process Grief

Another thing that seems to be happening collectively (this was a download that came to me in the bath, as many of my deeper insights and collective understandings do), is to be mindful and compassionate when you or someone you know is going through a wave of collective grief.

In order to release the old paradigm and make space for the new, there is a lot that needs to … disassemble. Of course, the most fearful interpretation of this is that everything is going to sh*t and we’re all going down. Look, if I genuinely felt that were true, I wouldn’t be writing about hope and the next chapters and the shift and all that type of stuff on a web platform in hopes that other people will read it and feel inspired. Instead, I would be long gone, into the hills somewhere, with no access to technology and no ability to contact me. Sayonara, modern world.

Lucky I genuinely don’t believe that to be true. There’s not a single bone in my body that thinks we’re headed towards a world of suffering and destruction. There does, however, need to be some — dismantling of the current energy structures and larger systems in place. And with that — whether it’s a moment that is inherently good for the planet in the long term or it’s an expression of energy that had nowhere to go but to combust in on itself (like tectonic plates shifting or major storms causing famine or violence with nowhere to go except towards the next person that happens upon it), there is loss. There is suffering, there is release, and there is grief.

This seems to be happening in large waves that my guides are calling “grief cycles.” And truthfully, there isn’t really anything to be done in those moments — except to stop what you’re doing and feel them. This is going to be a real shift for those of you who have always been pretty good at pushing through your feelings or letting them “deal with themselves” (i.e., facing them never and waiting until they come up in some unrelated context). The only option for the grief cycles to move through you is to fully feel them and release. They need somewhere to go.

Sometimes it might feel specific to your life, and sometimes it might be ambiguous or world-centered. Regardless, there are necessary processes. Do whatever you need to do to allow them to move through you. I received a message the other night that using tools to help process the grief (instead of sitting right in it, like so many of us feel like we’re supposed to do), can be a major help. Using films and music came up as solutions. Lately, movies that I usually turn to for comfort (*ahem* Song of the Sea), have actually been things that trigger these grief cycles and allow me to release. The last movie I sobbed in collective grief over was in 2017, during the Christmas holidays. (I really struggle at Christmastime, as I tend to become a total beacon for the collective that month and feel like I’m processing everything for everyone). The film? ...Lilo & Stitch. You never know what’s going to serve as the release valve.

Listening to music that gets me going (Holocene by Bon Iver, anyone?) allows me to process, too.

Let your intuition guide you next time you feel drawn to put on music you haven’t listened to in forever or a movie that feels comfy. Let the process run through you.

#4 Engage with Intentional Heart Opening Practices

This one came to me the other day after I had a new heart template activate in my body. I’d heart about ‘heart templates’ (coding and information that helps supoprt the heart), but I’d never experienced an activation of one myself.

It came about in a subtle and curious way — the way lots of shifts in the body and spirit seem to. I had had a vision about a ‘new heart template’ arriving in the bath — and then a deep, lucid dream about orcas and light code the following night (orcas are one of my absolute favourite animals, and ones that really make my heart sing). The next morning I pulled some cards on Dolphins, Lemurian heart healing and Ceremonial Cacao (a heart opener), which followed with a spontaneously channeled a meditation about opening the heart and activating this same template with the help of Orca medicine (coming soon!)

…This is kind of how it is with downloads and upgrades and shifts with me. Nothing is ever set down in a straight line or explained to me fully. It feels a bit like an easter egg hunt, where the goodies and little plastic eggs are revealed over time instead of sought out. Through this recent little journey wave, the overarching message I received from my guides was to remind people to open their hearts.

This doesn’t have to be complicated — and certainly doesn’t have to involve a multi-day metaphysical journey like it did for me.

This month, use some of your precious intention focusing on the heart space and opening it to more love and more activation. You can do this before you go to bed at night, or before you get going in the morning. Practice listening to your heart before you answer a question or respond. Practice letting her guide you around. If you’re feeling really daring, practice allowing your heart to speak to you and for you. What does she want to say? What is she holding onto? What is she dreaming of?

There are some deep activations happening in the world this month, but this one is a biggie.

Use it while the energy is there.

#5: Course Correct

The final theme for this month is where I want you to take every hype-warning about the retrogrades being challenging with a grain of salt. Especially with Neptune (the planet of inspiration, dreams, mystery and illusion) stationing direct July 2 — we’re being asked to pull inward this month and re-evaluate in what direction our dreams are heading. Is everything panning out in a way that feels harmonious (even if it feels hard to wait for the reward)? Are we watering the roots of our ideas, or just the fruit? What’s our motivation behind the direction we’re moving in — and do we still believe in or value that? The course-correction theme for July feels strong and prominent. Instead of ushering forward this month, take the moments of pause as they surface and really lean into whether you feel like things are going in the direction you want them too — or if your focus feels a bit clouded by external sources.

Although July often feels like a month of outward-focused energetics (helloooo Leo season July 23), we have Mercury, Neptune and Saturn all retrograde in July. Pull back, pull in, and decide if you need to course correct. This isn’t about shame or failure — but more about making sure your precious energy (and attention) goes where you want it to.

My advice?

At least for July — Get off social media. It’ll make figuring out what you want a hell of a lot easier.

That’s all I’ve got for now, bootiful humans! If this resonated and you’re looking for more guidance, be sure to book a session with me before July 17th! I’ll be on the road after that and won’t be taking bookings till august.

*If you’ve got some burning questions but a session feels out of your budget for the time being, consider booking a mini session instead. They’re just as deep as a regular session (although a bit shorter, hence mini), and you don’t have to show up on zoom. You just voice-note your question and hit send.

As always, cheering you on from here,

-Kate ❤
